ICHS GRADING POLICIES
At International Community High School, we believe in a transformative approach to education known as mastery-based learning. Unlike traditional grading systems that focus solely on test scores and letter grades, mastery-based learning emphasizes a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It is a student-centered approach where the focus shifts from completing assignments to truly mastering the material. Through continuous assessment, feedback, and targeted instruction, students progress at their own pace, ensuring a solid foundation before moving on to more advanced concepts. Mastery-based learning empowers students to take ownership of their education, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. Our goal is to nurture lifelong learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in an ever-evolving world.
HERE IS A BREAKDOWN OF OUR GRADING SYSTEM
Classroom Grade | JumpRope Grade | Meaning | Explanation |

ME | E | Exceeds standards | The student has produced work at an outstanding level for this class goal (learning outcome).

MA | A | Above standards | The student has shown that he/she is able to produce work at above satisfactory level for this class goal (learning outcome). |
MT | T | Meets standards | The student has shown that he/she is able to produce work at a satisfactory level for this class goal (learning outcome). |
MP | P | Approaching standards | The student has shown progress that he/she is able to produce work at the minimum required level for this class goal (learning outcome). |
NC | N | Not yet proficient | The student has a limited amount of time to prove competency in outcomes before he/she has to retake the course for full seat time. |
